Summer Camp – Day 1

The Bard has begun at Shakespeare in Action – with the first day of our Summer Camp for Kids and Young Company for Teens!

The kids hit the stage and after some name games, Zip-Zap-Zop, tongue twisters, and a slew of Elizabethan insults, the ensemble tackled their first read-through of the A Midsummer Night’s Dream script.  Director, Aris and Assistant Director, Gabriella, look forward to announcing everyone’s parts tomorrow!

This is Gabriella Sundar Singh’s first year working with Shakespeare in Action, and she is thrilled! Gabriella’s passion for performance has been blossoming her whole life. She began studying Bharathanatyam (Classical Indian dance), and hit her first stage at the tender age of four-and-a-half. She caught the performance-bug, and continued to pursue the joy of performance through all venues. She is a classically trained soprano, classically trained pianist, and also enjoys playing the trumpet and the ukulele. Gabriella’s passion for dance has led her to study ballet, jazz and hip hop, and choreographs for her dance troupe ‘The Sona Girls,’ in Bollywood and Hip Hop. You can see her dancing her heart out on a Season 1 episode of “The Next Step,” (as seen on the Family Channel), titled “Break Stuff.”

Gabriella completed her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies at the University of Guelph, where she studied under the talents of Pat Flood, Ric Knowles, Jerrard Smith and Judith Thompson. Here, she learned the art of Stage Management and Technical Design and Production, while pursuing her main passion, acting. She went on to complete a Post-Graduate program at Centennial College in Children’s Entertainment, where she was immersed in the world of Children’s books, television, film, and media. She is currently studying Acting at the National Theatre School of Canada, in Montréal. Gabriella’s dream is to work with young people, creating art that is relevant, necessary and inspiring.
